fo' shizzle my nizzle.

I consider myself a pretty hardcore gangster. I mean, gangsta.

I know what you're thinking.

"Amy? Gangsta? Please."

Well, let me give you 9 reasons why I'm more gangsta than you. (because gangsta's don't need even numbered lists).

1. I'm wearing gangsta glasses in my profile picture. Blue ones. Blue is like, 90% more gangsta than pink ones, which I totally could've been wearing. Are YOU wearing gangsta glasses in your profile picture? I think not.

2. I hang out in the 'hoods of Boston & New York with fellow gangstas and throw up gang signs. The following gang sign says "I'm the baddest gangsta up in here, sucka foo's!"

(I'm trying to lay low in the one above)

3. I totally know how to throw down the beats.

(while this video completely proves that I am gangsta, it also shows my inability to look decent while recording myself. & for that, I apologize)

4. I get into creepy black vans to buy fake designer purses. In the 'hoods of New York. But because I am gangsta, I was not afraid that the van was going to drive off with me inside at any minute. I especially was not afraid when an asian man ran up and pounded on the side, warning the guys inside of danger. & since I did it all for a purse, I guess that makes me gangsta chic.

5. I wear superb reading glasses while playing delightful...wait a second. How did this get on here?? Ingore this. Moving on.

6. Does this even need an explanation?? If it does, then you are so not gangsta.

7. I take pictures in front of graffiti that SAYS gangsta. You can't get anymore gangsta than that. Fer rills.

8. I've got mad fighting skillz. Gladiator like, in fact. You should all hope that you don't meet me in a dark alley anytime soon.

9. I've ridden on a packed subway. The kind where you get to know the person next to you more than is allowed by the law of chastity. But because I am gangsta, it is ok. That's how we do.

Now, since you all know that I am more gangsta than you, I will admit that there is one thing that is lacking. My slang.

I may be proficient in "mad" "hood" "throw down" & "fo shizzle", but that's basically the extent of my knowledge. Which is why I need to get my hands on these:

According to the box, I will soon be able to say things like, "Even these faded beats won't salt my game." However, both versions 1 and 2 of the cards are out of stock. Could one of you be a doll and bribe someone for them? Thanks so much. I hope getting them by tomorrow isn't too much to ask.

Speaking of tomorrow, in a few short hours I will be turning into an old woman. I might as well just buy a cane now. I will never be young again. (but at least I'll be gangsta forever.)

just your typical questionaire

I've seen this questionaire floating around for quite awhile now and usually when that's the case I avoid doing it, but I'm feeling bandwagony today. I was gonna change the common number from 5 to 7 so it'd be a little different, but then I realized that'd just be more work for me. So here's the copied, boring version that everyone else has done:

10 years ago:
I was 10. Let's see, that would mean I was in...4th grade. I was friends with Todd Gardner, my first big crush, and Dallin Pew. One time Todd & I were line leaders & there was a class of 6th graders that was about to cross in front of us, meaning that we'd have to stop and wait for them to pass, so he said, "Let's run so we can beat them!" Well, of course I ran with him and when we got to the classroom my teacher yelled at me and said I made the whole class run to catch up, & I had to stay in for recess. Did Todd get in trouble? Of course not. Now that I think about it, I had to stay in for a lot of recesses during elementary.

5 things on my to-do list today:
1. considering the day's almost over...sleep
2. maybe watch an episode of friends
3. check my e-mail
4. brush my teeth
5. take out my contacts

I enjoy:
NOT having homework, watching entire seasons of TV in one weekend, learning new things, having something to be excited about-however small it may be, people playing with my hair, back scratches, adventure, finding out my grades, the feeling I get after I'm done taking a test, having a strong internet connection, long texting conversations, warm showers, sleep, cuddling with buster man, eating, hanging out with my family.

5 Snacks I enjoy:
1. rice krispie treats
2. hostess cupcakes
3. goldfish
4. cookies
5. warm, soft, yet slightly crunchy, french bread

What would I do if I were suddenly made a millionaire: it'll be obvious from my answers that I'm definitely a PRE-business student, cuz it's all gonna be wrong from a finance point of view. Hopefully by the time I graduate I'll know how to invest it, etc., but I have no idea as of now so I'll give the basic lame answers. Travel, tithing (although I gotta admit, it'd be hard for me to give up $100,000 for tithing), house, clothes, lasik eye surgery, personal trainer, pay off car, teeth fixing, some to mom & sisters, some way to give back to the community in a way that will keep giving back (not just a lame charity), savings.

5 Places I have lived:
1. some townhouse until I was 2 - Mesa, AZ
2. My current residence, bedrooms 1, 2, 3 & 4 - Mesa, AZ
3. Cholla Apartment Dorms (4 days) - Tempe, AZ
4. My current residence, bedroom 4 - Mesa, AZ
5. My current residence, bedroom 5 - Mesa, AZ

5 jobs I've had (or will have):
1. Target, baby. Cashier/Guest Service. 1.8 years
2. Some telemarketing place. Newspaper Saleswoman. 1.5 weeks
3. Mervyns. Cashier. 3.2 months
4. U.S. Advisors group. Title Unknown. (I think receptionist? Maybe data entry? Or just a secretary? I really don't know) 1.33 years
5. Camp Pontiac. General Camp Counselor. 8 weeks

5 things people don't know about me:
1. I'm obsessive about checking e-mail, mail, myspace, facebook, or blogger for new messages or comments if I'm expecting something. The thought of getting a package or message makes me SUPER happy and it becomes all I think about. When I was waiting to find out if I was an extra I probably checked my email 6 times that day. & I've been waiting impatiently for my packet of information from Camp Pontiac to arrive in the mail, but it hasn't yet! Waking up knowing it might come gets me all excited, and then I just get disappointed when I see that it hasn't come. I'm like a 5 year-old.

2. I can make myself cry. I've never done it to try to make someone believe I actually was crying though. I'd feel too bad if I did.

3. I've never broken a bone. I used to want a wrist cast though, cuz it was the least inhibiting but still looked cool & could be signed. Now I realize that I'm very lucky that I haven't. When you're young you don't think about things like the fact that you still have to take showers, & that you can't go swimming with them.

4. I'm HORRIBLE at geography. Always have been, always will be.

5. I used to strongly dislike cats, but now that one adopted us I've come to (basically) like them. One day a cat showed up at our door meowing at us, and eventually my mom started leaving food out for her. Of course I avidly told her not to because I knew it would never leave us alone after that, but she didn't listen. It eventually turned into the cat coming inside every once and while, and then coming in at nights, and now it's basically our cat. We have cat food, a litter box & everything. I'm pretty sure she knows how to use the doggy door too. None of us have agreed on a name but I call her Misty. She really is a sweetie, & it's SOOO cute to see how Buster acts around her. He hates dogs, but he likes her. She was declawed, well-mannered & litter box trained too. We'll see how long we keep her.

5 bad habits:
1. eating ice when I know that my jaw should be refraining from such strain
2. spending too much time on the internet
3. PROCRASTINATION
4. ignoring my health for the tastiness of junk food
5. waiting until the absolute last second to leave for places, so I'm usually late. I hate it.

i'm officially very upset. very.

For about 3 years now I've been trying as hard as I could to grow my hair out. I tried all of the tactics I could.
I minimized greatly the use of my straightener.
I always used the lowest heat setting when blowdrying it.
I invested in many different types of conditioners and shampoos, many of which are the "professional" kind.
I bought biosilk.
I ONLY got trims.
I cut my hair approximately every 4 months, grudgingly, because I was told it'd make it grow faster.
I tried taking Omega-3 fatty acid supplements.
And still, it never seemed to grow. I always had split ends, and I always felt like it was still unhealthy.
I kept telling myself, Amy, it's just in your head that it's not growing. It's just because you see yourself everyday, so it probably is getting longer.
But now I have proof.
As I was browsing through pictures of myself I came across some that were taken nearly one year ago. And my hair was LONGER THAN IT IS NOW!
I could cry.
Here's the proof that my hair has indeed been shrinking:

July, 2007

April, 2008

Isn't it way longer before?? This upsets me greatly! I really want long hair, and it seems I've hit a year-long plateau.
I'm gonna go cry now.
Or possibly steal someone's extensions.
Whatever works

food problems.

I've been having really weird cravings lately.
(No I'm not pregnant)
Cravings that are hazardous to my health.
I never thought I was a stress-eater, but oh man am I ever.
Lately when I have a stressful thought, I automatically crave a dr. pepper from a gas station and some sort of sugarness REALLY badly.
Why a gas station? Because I need the plastic cup, tasty ice, and straw. No bottles & cans for me. At least not lately.
And it has to be combined with some kind of hostess cupcake or rice krispy treat.

(me enjoying the tasty ice from QT, my gas station of choice)

I can't explain the happiness that comes when the thought of getting those items enters my mind. It gets me in a really good mood.
But I can feel myself slowing down mentally and physically because of this horrible habit, so I need to change it. It's so hard though!
I need to be on the Biggest Loser. I think they should have one for people that aren't exactly overweight, but need to get healthy.

Since that won't happen, I'm just going to have to try to motivate myself on my own. I CAN do it! Yes I can. I'm going to make a change. Woo!

*Note to self*
Under any circumstances, do not, and I repeat, do not think that you are going to be considered an old maid unless you get married in a maximum of one year. Even if all of your friends are getting married and you find out everyday that more and more people from your graduating class have gotten married. OR even if you find out that a lady who knows another lady who knows your mom wants to set you up with her nephew's friend's brother who's coming home from his mission soon. This is exaggerated, but very likely knowing my mom.

It seems like all I've been doing lately is going to bridal showers, receptions, more bridal showers, and more receptions. Today I went to my friend Michelle's bridal shower.
I have no idea what's going on with my hair in this picture and I basically look like a hobo. (hahahaha "Red, that oatmeal was for the hobos!!".....that 70's show....anyway....)

She's so awesome and I couldn't be happier, but I need to remind myself that it doesn't matter if I'm not married right away! I really don't wanna get married yet & I'm likin the single life, but still. I only have to start worrying when I'm 23. Anyway, enough of that.

I saw this survey somewhere and I thought it was cool, so here it is.

For every question you have to go to photobucket.com (or google if you prefer), type the answer into the search box, and use a picture from the first page.

14. What is the last store you shopped at?

15. What was your high school's mascot?
If you liked it, do it.

the peeves

For the sake of keeping my blog well-balanced, I think it's time for some ranting. I had a "trip down memory lane" post with the school memories, an "uplifting" post with the quotes, a "funny" post with the video, so it only makes sense that ranting comes next. (I also had another post but I deleted it because I didn't like it). My version of ranting is a list of "the peeves". Everyone has them. Here are mine.

1. Open cupboards & open shower curtains
Bad
Good

Bad
Good

2. Closed bathroom doors (unless of course someone's doing their business)
Bad
Good

3. Lights on in empty rooms
Bad
Good

4. When sun visors in the car are down when they're not needed.
Bad
Good

5. When class goes past the time we're supposed to leave, even if it's just a minute. For any class. This is very common & usually likely in institute and math.

6. When approaching a red light & there's no one ahead of me in my lane so I get to be the first one, or the lane I'm in has the shortest line, and then someone suddenly decides to hurry over into my lane, so I'm NOT first or my lane ISN'T the shortest anymore when I was already very happy thinking that I was going to be. It upsets me very much. This is especially irritating to me because I'm very OCD about having to be in the lane with the shortest line. I'll even go out of my way to make that happen.

7. Computer windows that are semi-minimized. If I accidentally close one that wasn't maximized I have to reopen it, maximize it, and then close it again.
Bad
Good

8. Wrappers (from hamburgers, burritos, subs, etc) that aren't scrunched up tightly into a ball when thrown away. I WILL reach into the garbage to scrunch it too.

9. Driving behind a truck with a person in the back. And the person is sitting so they're staring straight at you. And they're smiling at you. And they're not attractive. And you start to look away, and then realize that you can't because you're driving and don't want to die.

10. Hearing about the 1387284261725524th "Reality" show. I was the last person to jump on the hate wagon since I've always loved reality TV, but it's just plain ridiculous these days. I mean, are they serious? Do they really think making a show where Paris finds a new best friend or a dancers have to dance with their moms is good TV? It's gone past pathetic.

11. Rude people. This one's pretty much a given for everyone, but it's a big one of mine. I don't know how some people can be so judgmental & plain mean. There are a lot of immature people at ASU so I hear a lot of this stuff. It irritates me.

(This doesn't really apply but it came up when I googled "mean people" and I thought it was funny)

12. The four corner girls in my math class. This is what I hear for 10 minutes before class (since my teacher is always 10 minutes late)

(high pitched annoying laugh)
"Matt McCarthy is hot!"
"Eww he's like 45!"
"Well, I got like, a 68 in his class, it was so easy"
"Ya, & my parents like, weren't even happy that I got a C. If they didn't make me I soo wouldn't even try in school"

Shoot me in the face.

gets me every time

This past weekend I decided to venture out into uncharted territory and do something productive, so I chose to organize my room. I was doing pretty well and made some significant improvements, until these came along:
(notice how 4 out of 7 are blue?? I've never even had blue as a school color)

My yearbooks weren't even in a location that needed to be organized. They were just sitting innocently on the shelf where they belong, and I went to put something away next to them which led to the mistake of taking one out. & we all know that you can't just look at ONE yearbook, you have to look at them all. Because you see your picture & think, man, I looked ridiculous that year, so then you have to compare it to all of the other years, & then you have to look up the rest of the pictures you were in for things like orchestra etc, and then read the thousands of signatures people left while laughing at the fact that retarded things used to seem so funny, and then when you're done being vain you have to look up the people you haven't seen in awhile and compare all of their pictures, and then you have to read the filler pages that no one really bothers to read before, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc. Or maybe that's just me. Anyway, once I touch the yearbooks any hope of finishing my cleaning and organizing goes out the window.

ANYWAY, the point of this is that now I'm in a school memory mood, so I'm going to share some of my favorite memories starting in 6th grade and going to 12th grade (because those are the years I have yearbooks for)

6th Grade
My pride and joy: Track-n-Field day. It was the one day out of the whole year that we got to wear shorts. YAY! It was a sacred day, and girls planned what they were going to wear months in advance. The whole day was dedicated to activities such as relay races, football throws, 50 yard dashes, obstacle courses, long jumps, etc. They gave out ribbons to the people that placed too & we ate orange slices and popsicles. It was AMAZING and definitely what I looked forward to the most.

7th Grade
(We didn't buy the picture from that year, so instead here's a picture of me looking lovely when I was that age)

My favorite memory: Pig pillows! I took home ec in this year, and LOOOVED it! I loved learning how to sew & eat cookies. I didn't like the actual cooking so much because we couldn't leave til everyone was ready & our kitchen was spotless, so I was always worried I'd be late when we cooked.

8th Grade
I'd have to say the funnest thing about 8th grade was the Orchestra Trip to Flagstaff. Friends, junk food, hotels, and hyperness will definitely bring about fun. We went to play in a festival, and we stayed overnight. I was roomies with Stacia, Christine & Bethany and we rocked that place. Plus we had some homeless looking person knock on our hotel room door asking to come in, and basically scare us to death. It was fun though.

9th Grade
My favorite memory about this year is being on the Track team. Track meets were always soo much fun, and I was just a long & triple jumper so I really didn't have to work too hard. Just enough for me to stay in shape. I got really bad shin splints, but it was still worth it. Oh, and we got free Gatorade on track meet days. How awesome is that??

10th Grade
I also don't have a picture from this year, so here are 2 pictures of my favorite memory:
The orchestra, band and choir got to go to San Francisco for the performing arts trip, and it was beyond fun. We drove in a bus the whole way there, which took forever, but lots of the fun came from the time on the bus! I was on the "cool" bus with everyone I knew, so it was a good time. We got to go to the Broadway version of Lion King, the Golden Gate Bridge, Pier 39, a baseball game, and a symphony. We also got to go to an amusement park called Great America, and if anyone knows me they know I love amusement parks. This was my favorite day there, and my friend Stacia, another girl & I went on a ride that is pretty much the closest I've been to skydiving. It straps you all together, pulls you up a million feet, and drops you so you fly superman style. I wish I had a picture of it. It was extremely awesome.
.
11th Grade
I can't say that it's my favorite memory of this grade, but one thing I loved is when I went to Morp as MIB. The theme was Out of This World and people were talking about going as aliens...so then I thought, hey why not be an alien fighter? So that's what we went as. Men in Black. (I'd say I was a Woman in Black but that doesn't sound near as cool.) We brought squirt guns as our props but they took them away when we got to the door. We basically had to bribe them to let us use them for the picture.
I loved my suit. I think it all cost a total of like, 20 dollars from the thrift store.

...and finally...
12th Grade
There's soooo much to say about when I was a senior, I don't even know where to start. There was the time when Kim & I stole the list saying who made the musical at 10:30 at night because we were hyped up on who knows what and upset because she didn't make it when she soooo should have. Did I mention that we hopped the fence to get to it? Because we did. We thought the police were gonna be after us. Then there are all of the times I ditched to go out to eat, run around fancy neighborhoods, go to the mall, go to Target, play in parks, etc. There were definitely times when I was afraid I was going to be audited. I was one of those people who had to go to school on senior ditch day. At least for part of the day. Then there's the extremely amazing orchestra trip to New York, or the time when Kim & I were determined to become professional ice skaters and bought our own ice skates, or when Kim, Brodie & I put on war paint and TPed a friends house....I really could go on and on. My senior year is definitely my favorite.
.
Well that's all. I'm sorry if it was hard to read because of my jumbled up thoughts and lack of writing skills at the moment. I'm turning this into a tag so everyone that reads it has to post about their favorite school memories!
Seriously, you're tagged, you're it.
